Free Piano Dissection Workshop

The fabulous folk from Pianodrome are back in Leeds this year with their offbeat creativity, ready to add their own unique flavour to Leeds and Bradford city centres around The Leeds International Piano Competition 2024.
In a continued effort to intercept pianos destined for landfill, the team's inventive projects will take a greener turn. These defunct pianos will be dissected one-by-one into component parts to be re-purposed into 12 magnificent piano planters bursting with flowers, grasses, vegetables and herbs grown by local community gardening groups to bring a sensory smorgasbord of colours, smells and tastes to the streets.

Calling all volunteers!

We are looking for volunteers who fancy getting involved. The workshop will be led by friendly and experienced piano sculptors from Pianodrome. With simple hand tools and your participation, a piano will be taken apart over the course of a couple of hours. All tools, materials and training will be provided. We will walk you through every stage of the dismantle/design/build process. No previous experience required.

If you have ever wondered what's inside a piano, if you want to upskill and upcycle, if you want to pull apart old pianos and transform them into beautiful new planters - come along!

This is a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages to meet up and get involved in an exciting urban project that will flourish later on in September!

We have a limited number of spaces available for this event. If you would like to get involved, let us know you are coming in advance to reserve entrance. Allocation is on a first come, first served basis. Contact marketing@besbrodepianos.com to reserve your place.

Note: Sharp tools and heavy objects - children are most welcome but must bring a supervising adult. Practical clothing advised.
